The Style Awards

I was luckily enough to be invited to The Style Awards last night, hosted by the gorgeousss George Lamb, and Editor-in-Chief of OK! magazine, Lisa Byrne. Sorry to take a step back but silver fox Lamb is amazing in the flesh, extremely tall... but tangoed. I still love you Georgie.

Guest presenters included Caryn Franklin, Grace Woodward, and Nicky Hambleton-Jones.

It was a great albeit short show, with only a small number awards but plenty of glitterati nonetheless. I myself was lucky enough to be sat behind Hilary Alexander! I met her earlier on in the night; a thoroughly fun, friendly and stylish woman, felt quite the somebody strutting into the show next to her haha. Had to do a 'Perez' on this photo to show you:

Winners:

Fashion Photographer of the Year - Rankin

Fashion Stylist of the Year - Johnny Blue Eyes
This man screamed fashion. It was quite amusing to see him enter the event in all his glory and pose fabulously for the paparazzi, eyeliner and all. He did a short interview for the event too on his win, I overheard him giving some comical anecdotes and style advice.

Make-Up Artist of the Year - Caroline Barnes

Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year - Jamie Stevens
God, one of the photographers I befriended in the entrance bamboozled me into having my photo taken with Jamie Stevens. I felt like such an idiot, I was happy quietly observing the totty and fashion elite without having my mug plastered all over a celebrity archive somewhere. I daren't even search. Well done to Jamie for the win though!

Best Dressed Man of the Year - Ricky Whittle

Ok, while I am an aesthetical fan of The Whittler, why he won this is beyond me. This is such a generic 'London Boy' outfit, and the bright white trainers are five years behind. A very average and bland ensemble - I rue the day that Trinny and Susannah drilled into the male nation that a plain t-shirt under a blazer will make you God's gift. And man do I hate green tinged denim. But enough.

Best Dressed Woman of the Year - Paloma Faith
I was pleased with this. Not many are that keen on Paloma but I like her quirky and childish nature. She arrived at the event wearing jeweled boxing gloves and then changed into this outfit to perform (see picture below.) She sounded good live too, well done Faith!

The Clothes Show: Catwalk

The catwalk show was a feast for the eyes as the show paid homage to a list of great and fashionable cities with collections and dance shows for each.

The first was Tokyo:

Three guesses as to who these four sexy girls in the city were supposed to emulate...

Of course! The beauuuudeeful New Yoik' City

Milan got a display of art...

...and naked men :)

I think the best performance came from Paris. It was a perfect mix of the delicate and exquisite Parisian surroundings by day, turned brothel-style Moulin Rouge for the nighttime.

London's section was split into different areas - Carnaby Street in the swinging sixties and East London in the thriving present.

There was also a note of Gaga-esque costumes thrown in for good measure.

The Clothes Show: Backstage

ETQTE BBY was lucky enough to get an exclusive look around the backstage area for The Clothes Show Catwalk. Credits to the beautiful Grace for the photos!

The Clothes Show London

The Clothes Show London opened in Earl's Court yesterday for a weekend of shopping and celeb-hunting. ETQTE BBY was invited to view the event. It was a great day - the companies there ranged from the well known to the up and coming with beautiful clothes at very very reasonable prices. Where else could you find a beach party, magazine launch with a live band, a mock festival style pop-up shop, and live demonstrations from famous hairdressers all under one roof?

This stall featured bikinis that changed pattern when under water! Two looks for the price of one, and worth getting wet for. I also sampled the chocolate fondue (all in the name of research of course).

The Body Gossip campaign featuring Big Brother's Nicki Grahame about positive body image, I took part in the survey along with everyone else and it was great to see such happy messages to be proclaimed all over the walls. It was a really interesting project and you can read all about it here.

The Alice in Wonderland stall of course caught my eye...

And one of the best of the bunch was Cow Vintage. A fantastic vintage shop with unique yet inexpensive pieces. They were a particularly good brand for festival clobber. Check out their blog!

Sketchbook magazine also had an opening, with a live band bringing in the crowds. Sketchbook is a great online and print-to-order magazine so do have a look.

For the historical buffs out there, fashion still had its place. The Fashion and Textile Museum had some great info on past styles, as well as a dense book shop and list of upcoming exhibitions in the capital.

The Clothes Show London is on from the 25th to the 17th of June. If you missed it this year, book tickets for the next circuit! It is well worth it.
