Vintage in volume

Yesterday, I went to The Vintage Kilo Sale in Brick Lane. As Brick Lane is only about a 15 minute walk from my flat, and I love both a bargain and retro clothing, I was very excited to investigate. It was an interesting concept - you pay a mere pound to get in then trapse through a warehouse of vintage wear picking up anything that picks your fancy and then pay by weight at a rate of £15 per kilo, (about 5 summer dresses worth for example.) I found masses of amazing clothing and the the event wasn't too busy so it meant there was a calm atmosphere where you could actually shop, rather than rummage. Even if you don't want a whole kilo worth then there was the ability to pay for single separate items, ranging from five to eight quid each.

My bill came to a simple £24 (not even one high street dress worth), and these were all my purchases:

With a little imagination, they'll be looking pretty snazzy! Feeling rather value happy so it is greatly recommended. Check the link above for future dates.

STYLE JURY: Marina's gold platforms

I recently tried on these incredible wedges at Topshop, as seen in the previous Hollywood video for Marina and the Diamonds.

At £150, they certainly are a statement, what do you think - fab or foul?
(Pardon the low-res, it was taken slyly on my Blackberry)

Kilburn Calling

I am sitting in class at uni and I have been told I have to make a blog.

Another one, to divide my pondering time even more. What's more it has to be about the area of Kilburn as that is now the basis of my new project. Unfortunately it is to be a private blog so I cannot show you all, but no doubt I'll be brainstorming and sharing my findings here, I am not one to turn down exploring new areas!

Finding the hot new thing in Kilburn. Wish me luck. Any ideas?

Humanity I love you

I am so fucking in love with ee cummings.

He makes me feel intelligent and beautiful and I want to cover my world, my walls, my body in his words because he is an amazing thinker. Amazing thinkers are so dangerous for love.

I could actually sit here, into the early hours, quoting everything he has written and get nothing done. It is sometimes ironic that we place such emphasis on following the advice of great minds but we rarely act out what they are saying. Perhaps though, with Edward Estlin, he is telling me to do something I can.

Taste for fashion

I am going to be doing some baking in the morning for my best friend's birthday - still can't decide on what cake to opt for, but these cakes are fabulous! The Louboutin and Dior ones are so intricate but I rather like the Gucci one for the sheer patience of the artist/baker (never a combination I thought I would see).

If only most people in the fashion industry actually ate...

Not as bad as poor spelling

In Love.

I have a new girl crush.

all photos by Jolijn Snijders

This model Hannah is AMAZING. I want to be her.

I mentioned Jolijn Snijders in my last post and again all these pictures have amazed me. check out her ilovefake zine now on the link.

Snijders is quickly becoming one of my favourite photographers. Read a rather interesting interview with Jolijn here:

Green Eyed Monster

If you know me personally, (or have even just seen my facebook), you will know I have had my fair share of rainbow hair - blonde, white, ginger, black, brown, even pink - you name it.

Channel Kate Winslet in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for example, except maybe less severe:

My blog picture is my version of idyllic pink but very few can pull it off. HOWEVER, I am getting a new obsession: green. Perfect for Spring/Summer!

I saw these amazing shots by Jolijn Snijders recently:

43 DAYS TO GO...

I meant to post this a couple of days ago as it no doubt going to be the event of the Spring!

I am extremely excited; the arrival of Aidan? Smith? COUTURE?

The second Carrie poster for SATC 2

Why do these girls have so much damn fun? This show has made our generation look forward to being middle-aged. Plus, who else can look this chic in the middle of the desert?

I've waited too long for this, I miss my SATC fix, I miss lines like "Miranda went out with an over-eater and he over-ate her."

So glam, I remember when SJP was a dog...

Antique appeal

As some of you may know, I've been looking for a typewriter for a while now. I wanted either a retro 60s one in mint green or turquoise, or ideally a magnificent vintage machine for early 19th or 20th century. Well my search is over! I don't know the exact details of when or where it is from but I picked up this Imperial number at a car boot sale. Needs a good clean and some of the letters will require some rearranging but not bad for £11, no?
