Topshop takeover

Ok, so basically, my scouring eyes have realised that the High Street Hunnies may owe the Catwalk Queens an apology, or two, or three...

Topshop in particular, are paying homage to a number of designers this season, in the shoe department especially. Because saving money is fabulous, and the likes of YSL, Louis Vuitton and Alexander Wang must be accredited with the praise they deserve, I think it is necessary to share such finds with the rest of the recession engulfed world.

HSH vs. CWQ #1:
What a sight! Yes lovelies, it is the new cage boots for SS09 by Yves Saint Laurent and... what is that imposter next to it? Topshop 's very own £70 shorter version! The cage boots have been very much anticipated and have been paraded around on chic campaigns which included model Claudia Schiffer posing while wearing the feisty footwear.

For those who cannot stretch to the impressive £905 price tag, it seems the cool alternative may be the way to go. They may not be dead ringers but they don't need to be; they succeed at embodying simplistic rawness, and are so sexed up and savvy that they hold still the original flair of YSLs finest.

HSH vs. CWQ #2:
What do all these fashionistas have in common?... They all like it Spicy!

Louis Vuitton has launched the must-have heel of the ages, the Spicy. The shoes are in such hot demand (pardon the pun) that Alexa Chung (far left) was bombarded by eager photographers when she turned up at the Louis Vuitton show in Paris, all wanting a snap of the sandals. Heidi Klum (far right) had them way back in December while other A-listers have only just got their hands on them. One little detail though, that may put you off purchasing the quirky pair... they cost in the range of £1600. Fear not however! We need not be teased by these untouchables as Topshop has also designed an inspired set that will only set you back £110! Bright and textured, they are sure to be a sell-out item, and they are primarily coloured in the hot shade for summer, orange.

The real Spicy's though, for whoever is saving up the pennies for the real deal, come in several different styles (see left), so variation is guaranteed where mildness - in every sense - is most definitely not.

HSH vs. CWQ #3:
Alexander Wang's sexy mesh combo dress was apparently first seen on Lindsay Lohan (left) in West Hollywood, and Diane Kruger (right) also wore it attending Glamour Magazine's "The Glamour Project" Art Exhibit at the Lehmann Maupin gallery.

Personally, this is one of my favourite little numbers at the moment. Ofcourse it cannot be referred to as an LBD because of the shocking layered blue wave design, which has a kitschy 80's vibe and gives the wearer the allusion of bodily curves. Dressed up or down with a choice of bare legs or opaques, strapless or sheltered with a boyfriend blazer, I give Wang only praise for this but my wallet does not. Therefore, Topshop can be turned to again for a reliably casual take on the frock, and for a cool 18 quid.

HSHs have been impressive of late and I can only hope the rest of Spring/Summer allows us to stay stylish as well as funded!
